Community Forum 1: Albany 2030 Kickoff Forums

The first round of Community Forums were held January 28th, 29th, and 30th in three locations around the City.  This first set of Forums was designed to gather input on what participants think Albany's strengths and challenges are, and to hear their vision for the future of the City.

Welcome to the Albany2030 website. As Mayor of this great city, I'm proud of our rich history and diverse neighborhoods, and I am excited to participate in the development of Albany's first comprehensive plan, which will help determine what lies ahead for our Capital City.

Host a House Party About Albany's Future

We hope you'll take Albany 2030: Your City, Your Future as an opportunity to host an Albany 2030 House Party to gather your friends and neighbors together to discuss Albany's challenges, opportunities, and to talk about your vision for the future. This is a great chance for you to get to know your neighbors, talk about your opinions of the City (where it is now and where it will be), and have fun!

About the Albany 2030 Team

The Albany 2030 Team is made up of the City of Albany Department of Development and Planning staff, assisted by a group of consultants led by Wallace, Roberts, and Todd (WRT). Each consultant is focusing on particular topics or processes within the plan and all firms have extensive prior experience in creating Comprehensive Plans across the country.  Please explore the details on each consultant and their role, and visit each firm's website for more information.

Comprehensive Plan Board

The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan Board (CPB) is to provide guidance and the foundation for the development of the first Comprehensive Plan for the City of Albany, as well as to make recommendations to the Common Council regarding adopting the plan. The Board consists of 25 members who were appointed by the Common Council.
    Specifically, the CPB:
    • Developed and reviewed the Request for Proposals;
    • Will facilitate the framework for the Comprehensive Plan;
    • Will ensure adequate public outreach and input;
